The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) regulates real estate brokers, sales agents, real estate inspectors, residential service companies, and timeshare developers. TREC provides information and assistance to consumers regarding real estate transactions and the professionals who serve them.
Protecting Texas Consumers
TREC was established to protect the public in real estate transactions and to provide information to help consumers make informed decisions. TREC investigates complaints against license holders and may take disciplinary action against a license holder who violates the Texas Real Estate License Act or the rules of the Commission.
How to File a Complaint
If you believe a real estate license holder has violated the Texas Real Estate License Act or TREC rules, you may file a complaint with the Texas Real Estate Commission. Complaints must be submitted in writing. You may obtain a complaint form and information about the complaint process from the TREC website at trec.texas.gov or by contacting TREC.

Verify a License Holder
Before working with a real estate professional, you can verify a license holder's status and review any disciplinary history through the TREC website. Always confirm that the person you are working with holds a current, active Texas real estate license.
